Snow in May? The 2013 Minnesota Fishing Opener is behind us and I tell you its times like this when I really feel for the brave fishermen that tackle the weather in search of one of those Lake Vermilion Walleye. We did have a group of guys that said that they were coming no matter what. Thankfully with help from a local friend we were able to get them into Black Bay. They had an interesting time dealing with snow showers, few bites, and chilly 36 degree water. The next day however the weather improved and the fish started to bite. After the long winter it has been refreshing to see a few Lake Vermilion Walleye.
My new ice - out prediction is that before the end of the week we will be ice free. We are doing whatever it takes to get you out on the lake. As you can see Mike was brought back in from retirement and was set to work in his 16ft Lund icebreaker.
The fish are here waiting for you and the ice will be gone soon. Now is the time to get your Minnesota fishing trip planned so you can see it for yourself. What cabins are open in May and June?
