Hiking on Lake Vermilion

Black Bay PENINSULA Hiking Trail

Girl Scouts Trail

Lake Vermilion's treasured Black Bay Peninsula Hunter Hiking Trail is just a ten-minute boat ride away from White Eagle.
Diverse landscape with beautiful and ever-changing scenery and plant life will have you planning your return before you leave.
This is a must-see destination if you are vacationing and planning to hike on the west end of Lake Vermilion in Northern Minnesota.

Easily park you boat at the sturdy dock in the far right back corner of Black Bay on Lake Vermilion. A small day-area use sign marks the entrance, and the 2-mile loop is well marked and easy to follow. Every so often a blue diamond guides the way.
The trail is of some challenge as it is just wide enough to comfortably walk single-file. It gently meanders through high and low lands, but there are a few areas of difficulty including several trees to climb over, sections of uneven/slippery rock to walk over and face high branches to dodge. Most would enjoy, with the exception of great grandparents with canes and toddlers in strollers!
